I Grew Up In A Ghost Town
by Shar Sitter in Personal Notes from Shar
I Grew Up In A Ghost Town
Do you ever see pictures of those deserted towns or drive through one on your way somewhere important and think to yourself:
“I wonder who lived here?”

“I wonder what it was like…..did they have dreams for themselves?”

Well I do know who lived there…… I did. This was my home.
Kind of weird to say those words, “I Grew Up In a Ghost Town” but I did.
Oh of course when I lived there it wasn’t a ghost town, it had a bar (my best friend Nancy’s Dad owned the bar):
It had a post office:
It had a town hall where I danced standing on my Dad’s feet and holding onto his belt loops:
It had a two room school house (no longer standing) that closed after I finished second grade so there was no longer a school in town.
It had a grocery store run by Elmer and Francis and they lived above the store.
We lived right next to them on Main Street.
Do you want to know what it was like?

It was normal.
Well….I didn’t know any different so I thought it was normal.
I thought going to the outhouse during recess was normal.
I thought going to the pump in the center of town to pump water for cooking and drinking was normal.
Didn’t everyone do that? I did…..many times a day.
I thought playing on the railroad tracks and in the dirt were normal.
So, “Who lived here?” I did….. “What was it like?”…….it was normal, it was all I knew.

The next time you drive through or see pictures of a Ghost Town think of me. Some of the ghosts are still alive.

“We Got An Offer Within 8 Hours of Listing It for Full Price!”
by Shar Sitter in Home Staging, Vacant Home Staging
“We Got an Offer Within 8 Hours of Listing It for Full Price”.
Home Staging in Minneapolis, MN.
What??
That was my reaction when I received this email from a Realtor. He was letting me know a house I had just staged a few days earlier had already sold.
I hadn’t even downloaded my pictures yet!!!
Woo Hoo!!
This house had great charm. Built in the early 1900s.
However there were no updates and the back portion of the home had been added on in the 1970s and it was still in original mode. Hunter green carpet in the Master Bedroom and Lovely Blue in the Family Room.
The Realtor said: “You made the house look amazing!”
Oh, I like that.
When I was asked to stage this vacant home I couldn’t wait. Take a look:
Love this fireplace or what? And how about the cute windows?
Home Staging brought even more charm to this original Living Room and gave it a modern feel for today’s family as well.

Built-in original hutches and original light fixtures, but would it translate to today? I think so.
The blue carpet and drapes from the 70′s addition really hit you in the face when it was vacant. Not quaint like the original part of the house.
Home Staging helped tone those down a bit don’t you think?

All I know is that the closing date was two weeks later!
Need a little pizazz for your home or listing? Rooms With Style Home Staging and Redesign in Minneapolis /St. Paul, MN would love to assist you in getting top dollar and a fast offer.
